MDaemon Messaging Server - Tech Specs

These are the minimum recommended system requirements for MDaemon Messaging Server to run. This does not take into account running multiple programs simultaneously. To run several programs on the computer at the same time, that computer should exceed these recommendations.

MDaemon Messaging Server - Minimum System Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2/2003 Service Pack 1/Vista/2008/7/2012/8 (including 64-bit versions)
  • Pentium 3 800 MHz processor or higher (dual core Pentium 4 2.4 GHz or higher recommended)
  • 512 MB of memory (1 GB recommended)
  • Typical Hard disk space required: 200MB, additional space for any mail to be stored
  • TCP/IP network protocol installed
  • Internet or Intranet communication capabilities

Note: Like all mail servers MDaemon is heavily I/O bound - performance can be dramatically improved with faster hard drives.

Notes:
  • The size of hard drives required will vary depending on the amount of mail each user is storing on the server, the amount of logs you want to retain, and what other applications installed on the machine.
  • MDaemon is only available as a 32 bit application, however, it is fully supported running on 64 bit Windows operating systems.
  • The system specifications provided above are general recommendations for physical hardware, if you are planning to run MDaemon in a virtual environment your system specifications may vary.
  • When installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for MDaemon, Microsoft SQL Express 2008 is installed. For most installations we suggest increasing the above recommendations for memory by 1GB in order to accommodate SQL.
